OFRENDAS 2010 Calavera Fashion Show & Walking Altars, now in its eight year, has become one the most unique celebrations of Dia de Los Muertos anywhere. This year's event includes 19 well respected Chicano/Latino artists from Los Angeles, weaving together fashion, art, music and performance in one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year. As Reyes Rodriguez, artist, creator and curator of the event said "We believe that this event is the utmost Ofrenda, a couture for the deceased."
This year's participating artists include (in alphabetical order) Abel Alejandre, Edith Abeyta, Rosanna Esparza Arhens, Miguel Barragan, Joe Bravo, Carolyn Castaño, Elena Esparza, Consuelo Flores, Juana Flores, Katiria Gomez, Daniel Gonzalez, Cici Segura Gonzalez, Jose Lozano, Poli Marichal, Gilbert "Magu" Lujan, Lilia Ramirez, Sandy and Guadalupe Rodriguez, Robert Quijada and Orquidia Violeta.
The show is simultaneously projected on a large screen to accommodate the whole audience, with the celebration-after-party starting right after the runway show ends with DJ Jose Ruiz (mundomuzik.com)
Door open at 7:30pm (gallery, food, bar). Show starts at 8:30pm.
