Classic Chicana's Club primary mission is to provide affordable Pinup, Rockabilly and Fashionable clothing for women of all cultural backgrounds. Furthermore, as a club Classic Chicana's Club goal is to partner and financially support other local organizations and programs whose focus is on education and economic development, health and welfare, civic and cultural arts initiatives that strive to improve life for its citizens and future generations.
On Saturday, June 16, 2012, 2pm to 8pm at Rancho Perez in Lake View Terrance, CCC will host an ethnic community fund raising event to support Gifted Nations www.giftednations.org, a multicultural interracial positive pop teen girl group. The goal of this event is to raise funds to send Gifted Nations on a fall school tour to raise awareness to STOP cyber bullying and suicide. The tour will be called "Free Your Mind, STOP Bullying".
"Wikipedia defines Cyber bullying as the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner. As it has become more common in society, particularly among young people, children have killed each other and committed suicide after having been involved in a cyber-bullying incident. According to research, boys initiate mean online activity earlier than girls do. However, by middle school, girls are more likely to engage in cyber bullying than boys. The National Crime Prevention Council reports that cyber-bullying is a problem that affects almost half of all American teens."
CCC's goal on June 16 is to bring ethnic communities together to support the efforts of Gifted Nations "Free Your Mind, STOP Bullying" Tour. It will be a day of cultural festivities for the whole family. Live entertainment, fashion shows, ethnic cuisine, merchandise vendors, bouncers and games for the kids, face painting, raffles/contests and much more is planned for this cultural day of giving and sharing.
