Opening Night Reception: Saturday, July 14, 2012 7-10 pm
Join photographers Victor Horcasitas and Olivia Barrionuevo for an exhibition of photography that address the homeless and cultural roots. Through their art, Horcasitas and Barrionuevo speak to humanity and a deep feeling of community.
Curator and artist Andres Montoya has been exploring issues of social concern. His choice of photographers for this, his first curated show for the Avenue 50 Studio, stems from that exploration.
Victor Horcasitas honors the disenfranchised. Befriending the homeless, Victor lives their stories and captures a moment in time when emotions mingle producing stunning photographs of those who choose to live a life according to their own terms.
Olivia Barrionuevo (pictured) is fascinated by her cultural history. Through her photography we hear the footsteps of those who came before – a proud and dignified people. We are drawn into the honoring of history.
Both photographers document community and what it means to two different segments of society. The Avenue 50 Studio is honored to be exhibiting these intriguing images. We hope these photographs draw you into a space where special people dwell.
