LA Phil presents GILBERTO GIL - featuring the rhythms of the northeaster Brazil "FORRO"
The godfather of the Tropicália movement, Brazilian singer-guitarist Gilberto Gil makes his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut with a concert of the danceable, funky, folkloric rhythms from northeastern Brazil known as forró.
And more: With over 50 albums, awards ranging from seven Grammys to the Polar Prize, and a strong social commitment in his lyrics, Gil was a natural choice to be Brazil's Minister of Culture for five years.
