In celebration of its 25th Anniversary, the Pacifico Dance Company returns to the Ford Theatres with Mexico, De Tierra a Mar. This one night only performance will explore early Mexican history, myth and folktales through a blend of traditional and contemporary dance.
Dancers will transform the newly renovated Ford stage
into the underworld of Mictlan, a mythical Aztec world. One of the folktales told through dance will be the legendary folktale, La Llorona, the weeping woman. As told in Oaxaca, this dance portrays the story of a woman betrayed by her lover who dies of a broken heart.
The program will also include dances from Costa Chica, Nayarit, Jalisco, and the premiere of a dance from Yucatan. Special guests include Mariachi Los Toros, a dynamic group of professional musicians whose passion for music is as evident as Pacifico's devotion to the preservation of cultural roots through dance.
