Sir Bruno Serato has announced that Caterina's Club, the nonprofit he started to feed local children in need, will expand its scope and serve pasta dinners nightly to approximately 500 Huntington Beach youths starting in late August. That brings the total number of children being fed each day by the organization to 3,505.

To kickoff the expansion, Serato will officiate at a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, August 22 at 4 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club (15645 Gothard Street, Huntington Beach) after which the first 250 children will enjoy their inaugural pasta supper. Only weeks ago, Serato began feeding children in San Juan Capistrano, Rancho Santa Margarita and Aliso Viejo. While the food is typically prepared at his beloved Anaheim White House, which he has owned since 1987, it currently is being made at Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove while the restaurant is being rebuilt after being destroyed by a fire.

"Huntington Beach is my hometown and, though it's generally regarded as an affluent community, we indeed have some residents who go to bed hungry at night," said Serato. "I'm delighted that Caterina's Club is, once again, expanding its footprint and we will continue to do so until hunger is no longer an issue in our nation."

Serato established Caterina's Club in 2005. It has served well over 1.5 million meals and influence has extended far beyond Southern California to include Chicago, New York, Texas, Mexico and Italy. Not content to merely feed children in need, Serato has extended his mission by moving many of the "motel families" into permanent housing and launching the Hospitality Program, which seeks to divert at-risk high school students by introducing them to opportunities in the food, hospitality and service industries.

For his humanitarian work, Serato has earned international publicity including profiles in People Magazine, "CBS Evening News" and newspapers and magazines the world over. Among his many honors is being named a CNN Hero, being knighted by the Italian government, receiving a papal blessing from Pope Francis, getting a humanitarian award on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, and receiving numerous proclamations, Man of the Year awards and other forms of recognition -- all of which he accepts to generate public awareness of the needs of our most vulnerable population – our children.
