As part of Los Angeles Filmforum's participation in Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, the Autry hosts a screening of Orinoko, Nuevo Mundo, the second chapter of multifaceted Venezuelan artist and filmmaker Diego Rísquez's cinematic trilogy on Latin America. Using sublimely symbolic imagery, Orinoko captures the incursions of European explorers, conquerors, and scientists around the Orinoco River. The film will be introduced by Isabel Arredondo, scholar of Latin American film, author of The Performative in Venezuelan Experimental Film, and professor at State University of New York (SUNY).
