Entries for the Mexican Cultural Institute's annual "La Virgen de Guadalupe" Art Exhibit are now being accepted. The exhibit will run from Saturday, December 9, 2011 through Sunday, January 15, 2012. Artists working at all levels of their career are invited to submit work for consideration.
The Mexican Cultural Institute is located at El Pueblo / Placita Olvera, the birthplace of Los Angeles and provides artists with an exceptional opportunity for exposure.
We are considering and accepting Virgen de Guadalupe-inspired works of art that reflect the artist's traditional or contemporary interpretation of the Virgen. Art work can represent the Virgen in the traditional sense or it can include the Virgen de Guadalupe as a symbol of faith, love, culture, family and/or home. Artists can also share through their art how the Virgen has impacted their lives.
Artists 18 years or older may submit work for consideration. Artists may submit work in any media, although framed paintings or prints are preferred. Artists may be asked to provide pedestals or other display materials required for three-dimensional artwork or artwork that requires special installation.
Artists selected for exhibition will be responsible for delivery and retrieval of the artwork. The artist will ensure that the artwork is exhibition ready.
Sales are encouraged; however, it is not necessary for the work to be for sale to be considered for exhibition. All transactions will be handled by the individual artist.
