Efrain Ferrer, president and founder of Strong-Tie Insurance, shared his inspirational story and professional experience with small business owners attending the Su Socio de Negocios Expo in Long Beach.
Over a hundred small business owners from Southern California eagerly gathered to meet the Cuban entrepreneur, and mirror the success of one of the most important Latino-run enterprises in Los Angeles.
Ferrer explained that after leaving the oppression of Castro-led Cuban regime, starting out in the United States was difficult.
"You need to have a plan and differentiate yourself from the competitors in order to succeed," voiced the Latin entrepreneur.
Despite the current economy, he assures that owning a business "is always a battle; the ideal time to make money never comes, but it you do not take the initiative there will never be a reward."
This message was well received by attendees gathered at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach (MOLAA).
Araceli Esparza, editorial entrepreneur, agreed that it was an excellent lecture. "I learned a lot. What best grabbed my attention was whether or not to have a partner. Sometimes we think we can launch a business on our own only to later find out we can't."
As for Rolando Castro, business owner of a credit repair company helping the Latino community, Ferrer's presentation was "important" due to the techniques exposed to better one's business. "I like the tactics for business growth".
