The Olympic Experience, Latino-style

Telemundo Media, "the Home of the Olympics in Spanish in the United States," unveiled its plans for London 2012 at a press conference at downtown's The Standard, outlining the most extensive Spanish-language Olympic coverage ever from July 25th through August 12th.

Telemundo's Olympic coverage will exceed 173 hours across multiple platforms including its national broadcast network, its digital and social media properties such as www.olimpiadastelemundo.com and www.deportestelemundo.com.

Coverage will be live from both, London and the network's studios based in Miami, with an impressive roster of more than 20 on-air presenters, commentators, hosts and reporters including internationally acclaimed sportscaster Andrés Cantor, Emmy Award winner Jessi Losada, soccer guru Sammy Sadovnik, former Olympic athletes Manuel Sol and Erik Morales and Telemundo celebrities and reporters. Telemundo is putting together its largest-ever digital platform with an aggressive social media campaign and the first-ever online and mobile live-streaming of Olympic content in Spanish-language to provide a fully customized London 2012 experience for U.S. Latino users.

For the first time in the network's history, Telemundo will offer live streaming of broadcast coverage together with exclusive digital-only content of Olympic events, news, announcements and information for multichannel video programming distributors and authenticated subscribers totaling more than 200 hours of digital video, including all Telemundo on-air broadcasts and the live streaming of trials involving Latino athletes.

"The power of social media, mobile applications and digital interaction has become an expectation for our fans and users and we have made a concerted effort to ensure that their Olympic experience on these platforms will inform and entertain like never before," said Eli Velásquez, Vice President of Sports for Telemundo Media and Co-Executive Producer of Telemundo's coverage, in a press statement.

The network will dedicate two websites to the Games, with www.olimpiadastelemundo.com focused on video streaming for authenticated subscribers and trial results, and www.deportestelemundo.com offering news, analysis, color stories, profiles and lifestyle coverage. The Telemundo digital platform will be fully integrated to NBC's via www.NBCOLYMPICS.COM.com/TELEMUNDO , giving users live access to virtually all Olympic trials.

Social media will also be an integral part of Telemundo's Olympic experience with a constant flow of Olympic content and an ongoing conversation among Telemundo's talent, Olympic athletes and social media users both on Facebook, at facebook.com/olimpiadastelemundo and on Twitter, at Twitter.com/olimpiadastlmd.
