Ten contestants participated in Week 2 of La Estrella de Panorama Mall hosted by Francisco Verdin "La Voz del Valle".
The event judges were Gabriela Aranda (Pink Star Music and formerly EMI Latin and BMG Entertainment), Ruben Rodriguez (Executive Director of Pueblo y Salud) and Reyna Trevino (TMG/Universal).
With 19 years of music industry experience, including marketing, publicity and artist & repertoire, Ms. Aranda was an excellent addition to the event. Mr. Rodriguez's non-profit serves the community in the areas of education, civic participation, health, culture, employment and housing. He is also veteran singer and well respected musician. Contestants will continue to benefit from Reyna's experience working with Latin, Urban and Mainstream superstars.
While crowds of over 800 people watched, contestants representing Ranchera, Reggaetón and R&B sang and entertained the crowd. Leon Green (pictured), dressed in green from head to toe, stunned audiences with hi-energy version of "Build Me Up Buttercup" by The Foundations.
Senior Marketing Manager of Panorama Mall commented, "Leon's voice, delivery and stage presence reminded me of a Motown superstar. He adds, "I can't leave out all the other contestants. Although few needed polishing, all were singing and performing from their hearts."
When the scores were tallied, Leon Green, Jose Ponce and Angel Mejía were declared the winners. Jose Ponce performed "Bohemio de Aficion" by Gerardo Reyes. Angel Mejia shined on stage with his full Mariachi traje, singing "Canta Canta Canta" by Jose Alfredo Jimenez. These three will proceed to the Semi-Finals along with Jose Gonzalez, Manuel Cardona and Ramon Delgadillo from Week 1.
