This is an executive search for a chief development officer for a non-profit organization based in Southern California.
The organization: A non-profit, community-based organization established in 1963 to serve disadvantaged individuals and families in the Los Angeles area. Became one of the largest Latino-oriented, family services organization in the United States by providing high quality social services and programs to those communities where the need is the greatest. Currently serves over 100,000 Californians, 95% of which are in the low to moderate income level, and approximately 8,000 California children each day. Service area has expanded to cover seven California counties including Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, San Diego, Kern, and Monterey. Continues to adhere to its original mission by offering 20 different free or low-cost programs and services to individuals and families who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
Job responsibilities: Research, develop programs, and implement plans to raise restricted and unrestricted funds from corporations, foundations, small businesses and individuals. Most fundraising effort will take place in California, but on occasion will require visiting select cities throughout the United States.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Certification by the AHP and/or AFP preferred. Minimum of seven years of successful hands-on experience in the management of a comprehensive development program. Effective communicator, highly skilled in writing and in speaking in front of groups. Ability to cultivate and solicit individual donors, corporations and foundations for support. Ability to organize and implement such activities as major gifts, annual funds, corporate and foundation giving, direct mail, planned giving and special events.
