Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market kicked off registration for its 2012 Shop for Schools fundraising program with Chivas USA midfielder Jorge Villafaña. Shop for Schools is an easy way for parents, educators and the neighborhood to raise much-needed money for local schools. Schools can sign up online at here. www.freshandeasy.com/shopforschools by October 1, 2012.
"It's an honor to be a part of this program," says Villafaña. "As a new father, I am always thinking about what's best for my child and it's great to know that companies like Fresh & Easy are here to help our kids get a great education while also encouraging them to be active through sports and other extracurricular activities."
Throughout September, just in time for back-to-school, Villafaña will be hosting soccer clinics with students at various schools, signing autographs and talking about the benefits of participating in Shop for Schools with administrators, teachers and parents.
All schools with students in kindergarten to eighth grade within a three-mile radius of a Fresh & Easy store are eligible to participate in Shop for Schools. Participating schools receive a $1 cash donation for every $20 receipt collected from any Fresh & Easy store from September 12 through December 31, 2012. The schools that raise the most money in Arizona and Nevada, and the two top-fundraising schools in California will each win a $5,000 bonus.
Fresh & Easy has donated over $4 million to schools throughout Arizona, California and Nevada since the program's inception in 2009. More information about Shop for Schools can be found at www.freshandeasy.com/shopforschools.
