All Day Music at Latin Grammy Street Party

The 2012 Latin Grammy Street Parties has reached a major milestone, celebrating its 10th year. The tour began in grand style with an opening show in Chicago on September 30th.

The popular street parties AKA Tail Gate parties, if you will, is a nice way to lead up into the XIII Annual Latin Grammy Awards Show telecast on Univision, Thursday, November 15th, at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

The tour travels to major Los Angeles communities in the United States with tour stops in Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Jose( 1st Time), and conclude the celebrations on November 4 in Miami. The Latin Grammy Street Parties showcases performances by some of Latin music established artists as well as up and coming artists who are generating plenty of media buzz in the music industry.

The Latin Grammy Street Parties featured a variety of genres of Latin music - reggaet??n, regional Mexican-pop, rock en espa??ol, tropical and many others.

Sunday, October 21st, an overcast, cool day greeted several thousand lovers of Latin music for the 4th stop of the Latin Grammy Street parties at Plaza Olvera, in front of Union Station. The crowd and I were in for a fun-filled day of music, a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas, courtesy of Las Vegas, Latin Grammy Street Parties official sponsor. Las Vegas showgirl Julin Jean picked Acelo Medrano's name from all of the entries entered into the drawing. Ms.Medrano will be attending the XIII Annual Latin Grammy Awards Show in Las Vegas. The Latin Grammy Street Parties featured many product samplings.

The 2012 Latin Grammy Street Parties is presented by McDonald's and 7UP. DJ Cristian spent tracks in between acts. The show kicked off with an excellent set of reggaet??n with Ibiandi Marquetti El Enternational, from Las Vegas, Nevada. This set was a great way to fire up the crowd on the tunes "El Termometro," "Gata Romantica," "and "Run Pipi."

We stayed in the tropical music genre during the tight set of Cumbia music performed by Rocio Y Su Sonora that got the crowd dancing to "No Renunciare," "La Cumbia," "Mi Cucu," and "Asi me Hizo Dios" the title track from her latest CD.

Our musical journey continued to travel to Mexico. El Rojo delighted the crowd and I with several original tunes "Ingrata," "Perfecta Para Amarte," "Se Me Olvido Otra Vez" and turned up the heat on "Plaza Caliente."

Young Kevin Ortiz is creating a lot of positive musical waves. He is a talented vocalist, currently tearing up the music charts. His back up band opened with "Tora Mamba." Kevin graced the stage to perform "Tal Como Eres," "Un Momento," "Me Voy," and "Un Historia de Amor" to the delight of his screaming adoring fans.

Jotdog is a group who is up for a 2012 Grammy Award in the Best Rock/Pop Album Category. They performed material from their CD featuring the tracks "Lo Que Digo Yo," "Hasta Contar A Mil," "Lluvia de Estrallas," and "Corazon de Metal."

An unwritten theme or pattern emerged as I enjoyed the Latin Grammy Street Parties in Los Angeles. The inclusion of many talented young musicians were showcasing their amazing vocal abilities on a huge platform of the Latin Grammy Street Parties. This was evidence in the performance of Gabby Boy. Gabby Boy and his four dancers entertained the crowd and I with several original tunes "El Feo Esta de Moda," "Bella Mentirosa," and "Menea."

Leslie Grace is another up and coming vocalist with a lot of potential. She infused some bachata on a popular tune from the 60's "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," popularized by The Shirelles. Her set also featured the tunes "Peligrosa Amor," "Day One," and "Hoy." I look forward to future projects by the above mentioned youthful artists.

The Latin Grammy Street Parties, Los Angeles kicked it up a notch during crowd pleasing sets performed by Jesus Ojeda, El Coyote (pictured) and Lupilla Rivera.

Additional sponsors of the Latin Grammy Street Parties include Paul Mitchell, on board as a partner sponsor in select markets introducing its latest product innovation, Paul Mitchell Curls, and Post Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal.

The XIII Annual Latin Grammy Awards Show will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on Univision Network on Thursday, November 15, at 8pm. Eastern / 7pm Central. Feel free to join The Recording Academy's social networks on Twitter and Facebook for breaking news and exclusive content.
