Corazon LA on Olvera Street Open Call to Artists

Set in the beautiful birthplace of Los Angeles, Corazon de Los Angeles offers beautiful artwork, handcrafted items, textiles, pottery and jewelery from Los Angeles and Southern California artists as well at imported from Mexico.

Corazon LA, for short, hosts both solo and open group exhibits in our beautiful space on the iconic Olvera Street Marketplace at El Pueblo de Los Angeles.

We invite artists to submit their work for consideration.

Currently on display is our Anniversary Show featuring the works of the talented and renown artist George Yepes. 15 original pieces fill the gallery space with a breathtaking display of pieces from his iconic collections, including new works in the "Sin City" collection.

Next up is "Frida Inspired," a mixed-media, group show from July 26 to Aug. 22; space still available. Email info@corazonla.com

In September we will feature "The Story of Us," a Tribute to Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month. Submission deadline for this open group show - photography accepted - is Aug. 1, 2014.

On Olvera Street, October means Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead. Traditional altar displays, processions, ceremonies and arts & crafts for the children occur throughout the month and across El Pueblo. Corazon LA is accepting submissions for our in-gallery exhibit and alter: the deadline is Sept. 14.

We are very excited about our closing exhibit for 2014: Virgins y Madonnas, an open group show exploring the many different interpretations of one of the most iconic figures in religion and Latino culture. Submission deadline is Oct. 1.

Opening up our 2015 season is "For Love or Passion," from Jan. 31 to Feb. 21. The submission deadline is Dec. 15, 2014.

For more information on our exhibits, including submission requirements, email info@corazonla.com or call (213) 617-0227 and ask for Nicolas.

Corazon de Los Angeles is located at W-19a on Olvera Street, upstairs - above La Golodrina restaurant and just below the David Alfaro Siquieros' mural "America Tropical." Main Street address is 634 N. Main St. LA 90012.
