Summer Just Got a Little Hotter

The summer is about to heat up with the 2016 San Jose Jazz Summerfest August 12 - 14. Downtown San Jose, CA is transformed into Jazz Capital USA and with over 12 stages and surrounding clubs there is something for everyone.

But, not only will jazz, blues and R & B be showcased but Latin Jazz and Salsa are highlighted as well. In fact, Summerfest is know as one of the biggest Latin festivals in the nation.

You say that you couldn't afford to travel to Brazil for the Summer Olympics? Well, no worries because San Jose Summerfest brings Brazil to you with a not to be missed performance by three-time Grammy award winner, Sérgio Mendes & Brasil 2016.

If it's the Salsa sound you're after, you are in luck because this year features both performances at the dedicated Salsa stage and at various nightclub venues around downtown San Jose. Have your salsa shoes ready because Friday night kicks off with a group straight from Puerto Rico, La Máquina Insular. Later at night don't miss the wildly popular Edgardo Cambon with his Latido quintet at the Fairmont Hotel.

Saturday's salsa stage performances begin at 12:30pm with Ricky's Villanueva Show and continue all day with six different back-to-back bands. Your feet will not stop moving when the final Saturday night performance hits the stage. The Bay Area Salsa All Stars features 15 well-seasoned salsa musicians to keep you dancing under the stars.

Be sure to save some energy for Sunday's Salsa performers with four additional salsa bands. Be sure not to miss the electric performance by the bay-area salsa band Avance. The night concludes with more dancing with the Nuyorican sounds of Pirulo y la Tribu.

In addition, there are amazing Latin Jazz artists performing at various stages and clubs throughout the festival such as La Tenaza Latin Jazz and the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco.

Ticket prices start at $20 for a one-day general admission. There are several free events as well. For more info visit the website at: summerfest.sanjosejazz.org
