Open Letter to My Liberal Friends and Family

I am deeply saddened and troubled by the reaction some of you have had after the elections results. Have you ever witnessed such behavior by so many people, acting like a bunch of petulant, spoiled children who didn't get their way!?!

People wearing black, calling suicide hot lines, skipping work? Professors advising their students they do not have to do their tests? Synagogues inviting their members to sit Shibba (the 7 day morning period) – this embarrasses me as a Jew, by the way! Are you serious?

I have read letters written to daughters by their fathers, apologizing and, at least in one published by Vanity Fair, using profanity!

But the insanity doesn't stop there; I have seen violence and destruction of property. People shutting down streets and freeways…who the heck do you think you are? What gives you the right to disrupt other people's lives, just because you're upset?

You accuse us Conservatives of being divisive and promoting hate. Did you see any of us engage in such deplorable behavior after Obama was elected, not once but twice?

In case you're wondering, I was not a Trump sympathizer. Even after he became the Republican nominee, I opposed him, until it became abundantly clear to me that Mrs. Clinton would have been detrimental to our country!

That debate is over, however. Mr. Trump was democratically elected as our next President. The people have spoken. Get over it, grow up and act as the adult you're supposed to be!

I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. Who knows, Mr. Trump might surprise you and turn out to be a good President.

You, my dear Liberals, should also acknowledge you brought this upon yourselves. You helped create the Trump phenomenon. As my friend Dennis Prager says, you live in a bubble. You only associate with other Liberals and therefore believe everyone thinks like you. You're wrong. Although there are racists in this country, the country is not racist!

We are tired of the name calling. Just because we do not agree with you, we are not racists, sexists, xenophobic, Islamophobic, anti-science, etc.

We do not want to impose any religion on anyone, but we also don't want God kicked out and erased. We are tired of people losing their businesses because of their religious stands! We are tired of judges imposing their views on the rest of the country.

You claim to be the tolerant, inclusive ones…prove it!

We live in the greatest country in the world. If you don't believe me, go spend a couple of months in Venezuela, or any Latin American country; but don't go to a 5 star hotel. Go stay with the regular people and see how they live. Visit an Arab country and see for yourself real oppression of women and hatred of gays!

I have a feeling that those people rioting have never had to go to bed hungry or scared.

Enough is enough. Stop throwing a tantrum. If Mr. Trump is really as bad as you think he is, you will have another chance in 4 years. In the meantime, live and let live!
