Deezer Launches Program to Support Emerging Latino Artists

Deezer, the world's most diverse, dynamic and personal music streaming company, launched Deezer Next, a brand-new, artist-first program dedicated to identifying and championing emerging talent through content creation and playlist curation, as well as through editorial and marketing support.

To kick off the program, Deezer has selected eight emerging artists, three of whom will be supported at a global level and five of whom will be supported locally in the U.S. market. Deezer will work directly with the artists, record labels and managers to cultivate and develop their profile, introducing them to a wider, more global audience through playlisting and the creation of individual content and campaigns.

These artists will also be supported with editorial and marketing promotion across all channels, including video, podcast, social and interactive. To further demonstrate Deezer's commitment to this program, music from one of the globally-supported artists will feature in an upcoming Deezer TV advertising campaign.

This eclectic mix of talented artists includes Pop, Country, Latin, Dance, Folk, Hip-Hop and R&B, genres and features Anne-Marie, Rag'n'Bone Man and Maggie Rogers, who will be supported globally, as well as Sofia Reyes, Jidenna, Christian Nodal, Dae Dae, Lauren Alaina, who will be supported in the U.S.

"One of the biggest obstacles I face as an artist is trying to get my music out there for fans to discover and enjoy," said Deezer Next U.S. artist Sofia Reyes. "Deezer Next is a launchpad for up-and-coming musicians, and I'm so grateful to Deezer for making this bold move to invest in me and other emerging artists."

"At Deezer, we're committed to supporting emerging artists and helping further develop their music careers," said Jorge Rincon, Vice President of Deezer North America. " One of the biggest challenges that new artists face is finding a platform to make their music discoverable to many audiences. In the US, we have seen streaming outpace music downloads for the first time in 2016 and we at Deezer have an exciting opportunity to introduce emerging artists to a broader audience through Deezer Next."

"Being part of a program like Deezer Next could be the key difference in establishing a successful music career," said global Deezer Next artist Anne-Marie. "This platform and program allows emerging artists like me to share our music to a wider audience than ever before."

A name given at birth, Jidenna means "embracing the father" in the Igbo language. His music is a testimonial to the contrasting experiences that have shaped, complicated, and ultimately defined his life – an origin story that covers multiple continents, coasts, and calamities. Often described as a millennial version of Andre 3000, with the lyrical acumen of Kendrick Lamar and worldliness of Stromae, Jidenna continues to cultivate a singular approach to arts, culture, and community, refining his elegant, funky take on hip-hop – a genre he defines as Swank – that brings together sociopolitical content and personal narratives wrapped in sounds that get his legendary soirees turned up.
