Renan Almendarez Coello, "El Cucuy", took his radio show on the road this week forming the caravan for "Dreams Across America" in support of immigration reform. The caravan traveled cross-country picking up 100 supporters along the way, arriving in Washington DC yesterday to campaign in front of Congress.
Voto Latino's Public Service Announcements won top honors at the Promax Awards, taking home the Gold Award. The PSAs, produced in conjunction with mun2, were written by Voto Latino and directed by mun2 Creative Director Ricardo de Montreuil. Mun2 picked up several Promax Awards, nine in total, with gold medals for Funniest Promotion, the Voto Latino PSA and Daypart Packaging Promotion.
Jessica Alba made some interesting remarks about her Latino heritage last week stating that: "Alba is my last name and I'm proud of that. But that's it. My grandparents were born in California, the same as my parents, and though I may be proud of my last name, I'm American. Throughout my whole life, I've never felt connected to one particular race or heritage, nor did I feel accepted by any. If you break it down, I'm less Latina than Cameron Diaz, whose father is Cuban. But people don't call her Latina because she's blonde."

A 6.8 earthquake shook Guatemala this week. Luckily there was no major damage or injuries caused by the quake whose epicenter was 70 miles southwest of Guatemala City in the Pacific Ocean.
TV Azteca reporter David Cuelllar Montero was shot in Mexico City this weekend. Cuellar was approached and shot by two men as he came home from work and is currently recovering in the hospital. The men reportedly said, "This is from Ofelia", David's ex-wife. The couple is currently locked in a custody battle.
