LatinoBud.com Relaunched with New Media Spots

Anheuser Busch has signed award-winning filmmaker Shawna Baca to direct a series of media spots for the company's newly designed website, www.Latinobud.com.

The company hired Baca after she received the New Media Director Award from Professional Latinos in Entertainment (PLIE), which is designed to help Latino filmmakers with support, resources and financing for their projects.

As the award recipient, Baca was given the opportunity to direct a spec commercial, "Some Like It Light."

It features an all-star Latino cast including Jesse Garcia (Quinceañera, Walkout), Andrew Keegan (10 Things I Hate About You, Seventh Heaven), America Olivo (General Hospital), Jessica Tome (General Hospital), Nathan Gonzalez (Survivor), Kikey Castillo (Latin Heat) and T Lopez (SiTv, The Drop).

In addition, Anheuser-Busch invited Shawna Baca to meet with LatinWorks, the company¹s advertising agency based in Austin, Texas. She was then contracted to direct all film media spots for the re-launch of Latinobud.com.

Kikey Castillo, a correspondent for Latin Heat, is the featured host for the web promos. "It¹s nice to work with a team that promotes positive images of our culture," says Kikey Castillo. Some of the spots will also be used as video press releases to be distributed to television and radio outlets across the country.

All of Baca's films have garnered numerous awards in addition to a 2008 Mujeres Destacadas Award from La Opinion and the City of Los Angeles for her contribution in the community in Arts and Culture. She was one of the 50 directors chosen by Executive Producers Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett out over 12,000 filmmakers to be on the 2007 Fox reality show, On The Lot.

"This is great opportunity for me and it's especially important because there are not a lot of American Latin directors working in commercials for larger corporations," Baca said, "and there is even a smaller percentage of Latina directors."

Sergio Alcocer, President and Chief Creative Officer said LatinWorks is proud to be working with Baca. "We congratulate Shawna for her body of work and her awards," he said.
