Lakewood Democrat Linda Sanchez announces she is expecting a child with boyfriend

Rep. Linda Sanchez plans to take on an additional job on or around May 21: Mom.
The Lakewood Democrat announced Tuesday that she is expecting a child with boyfriend Jim Sullivan, a Washington, D.C., political consultant.
"I'm very blessed," she said. "I have a job that I love, a committed partner, and family who love and support me and the baby on the way."
Sanchez, 39, and Sullivan plan to marry, but no wedding date has been set.
Sanchez, who lives in Lakewood, is divorced. She won a fourth congressional term Nov. 4. Her sister is Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove. The Sanchezes are the first sisters to serve simultaneously in Congress.
Yvonne Burke, presently a county supervisor for Compton and other areas, was the first member of the House to give birth while serving in office in 1973.
Linda Sanchez doesn't appear to have too many concerns about motherhood and her day job.
"I know that working mothers everywhere balance their time with parenthood and a career, and a congresswoman is no different," she said. "The only thing I am worried about balancing with this pregnancy are my favorite pair of heels."
