SESAC Latina is finalizing preparations for a grand event that will honor the best of the year and the decade in Latin music. The SESAC Latina Awards Gala will take place on July 21st at the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
SESAC LATINA, whose objective is to represent songwriters and publishers and secure their right to be monetarily compensated when their music is played in public, has important affiliates such as Claudia Brant, Aleks Syntek, Fonseca, Erika Ender, Samo from Mexican band Camila; Germ?ín Montero, Noel Schajris, and Jes??s and Bibi from Reik, among many others.
At the exclusive awards ceremony, the outstanding achievements of songwriters and publishing companies will be recognized, including those who have had chart-topping hits in the United States and Puerto Rico. Awards will be handed out in the following categories: Songwriter of the Year, Publisher of the Year, Song of the Year, Radio Airplay (Performance Awards), and #1 Hits of the Year and the Decade.
Special Awards will also be presented to those songwriters who have made their mark as performers. The gala will include live performances by internationally-recognized artists, a list of which will be announced soon.
More about SESAC: Founded in 1930 by Paul Heinecke, the organization was established as an effort to help European music publishers with the royalties of their songs in the United States. Through the years and until his death in 1972, Heinecke guided SESAC with a vision that combined the charm of the old world and the positive perception of the twentieth century.
In 1950, about to celebrate the 20th anniversary of SESAC, Mr. Heinecke said:
"It's exciting to see the fruits of our joint effortsÔÇªsongwriters, publishers, producers, usersÔÇª In the future we will keep using as a shield the eternal values of hope and faith, knowing well that both along with an honest and persistent effort will guarantee a benefit for all".
