Ruth Livier's popular web series, YLSE was awarded Best Internet Program at the 25th Annual Imagen Awards Ceremony, in the first of its kind category. Other nominees in its category included Let's Talk, Chicas Talk Back and I Once Was Lost.
"We are honored to be the first recipients of the Best Internet Program award in Imagen Awards history," said creator Ruth Livier. "This recognition emphasizes the legitimacy of independent content creation and distribution on the web, and we are thrilled about that!"
YLSE (ee-l-say) follows the journey of a young Latina television journalist whose career dream is to become the next Oprah. Her biggest challenge, however, is the gap between her career aspirations and the reality of her situation--being surrounded by co-workers and network executives who are set on confining her reporting to frivolous news stories. Add to the mix her complicated romantic liaisons, Ylse is a bit like Bridget Jones with a bicultural twist. With two seasons under its belt, YLSE stars Ruth Livier, (who also writes and produces the show), along with seasoned actors Marlene Forte, Alejandro de Hoyos and Gabriel Romero. YLSE is now in early pre-production of Season 3.
Livier has garnered recognition for her screen, stage and voice-over work and is best known for her starring role in the groundbreaking hit TV series RESURRECTION BLVD. For her portrayal of Yolanda Santiago, Livier earned a Best Actress ALMA Awards nomination and the series won for best series. Livier also received special recognition by the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, the Breakthrough in Entertainment Industry recognition from Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, and the NAMIC Legacy Award. She has been featured in prominent publications including: TV Guide, EMMY magazine, People en Español, Latino Leaders, Hispanic, Latino Future, and among others. Livier was also recently featured on the cover of Written By – a Writers Guild of America publication and called a New Media pioneer.
