The MEXICO Report Celebrates Anniversary, Revamps Site
Writer showcases Mexico travel and culture through positive reports
Two years ago this month, travel writer and Hispanic public relations specialist Susie Albin-Najera (pictured) created The MEXICO Report, an online magazine-style blog to showcase the good news about Mexico travel and culture.
Published on LatinoLA: June 14, 2011
After feeling consumed by negative media reports about Mexico, she decided to create an outlet dedicated specifically to presenting and sharing all of the good news and positive things taking place in Mexico, news that people would generally never know about otherwise.
"I felt that it was time for the general public to have a better image of Mexico, so I started writing and generating factual, real life stories that were part of my Mexico experience," said Albin-Najera.
Some of the stories have included people who have won awards or those who have built successful businesses in Mexico to fundraising efforts and what people are doing in the community to make a difference for those in need.
On June 22, 2011, The MEXICO Report will celebrate its second anniversary.
Albin-Najera has written about Mexico for the last 10 years and has been traveling there most of her life. She is married to one of America's most influential Latinos, award-winning writer, producer and comedian Rick Najera and together they are raising their three bilingual children.
"It was also important for us to teach our children the significance of their Mexican heritage and to learn Spanish," said Albin-Najera. "Through our love of Mexico, they see it as a country of opportunity and hope."
The mission of The MEXICO Report is to showcase the positive side of the country including travel, leisure, entertainment, arts, events, culture, people, places, community, cuisine, language, lifestyle, landmarks, tourism destinations, hotels, spas, environment, entrepreneurs and much more.
"The blog is very rewarding because it confirms that people want to see a positive image of Mexico."
Others in the travel industry feel the same way. Albin-Najera has generated dozens of testimonials for her work:
"The Mexico Report casts a much needed spotlight on Mexico's beautiful, inspiring, positive side," said Sylvie Laitre, Managing Partner of Mexico Boutique Hotels. "I'm always eager to read the next post and love the variety of stories that are told."
Kay Walten, CEO of the popular Riviera Maya booking site Locogringo.com said, "The Mexico Report is one of the most comprehensive online publications highlighting all of Mexico and its assets."
