The summer is heating up at Tr3s: MTV, M??sica y M?ís, the bilingual/bi-cultural network for U.S. Latinos. First, they're formed an ongoing partnership with OurStage.com to unite emerging artists, music lovers and industry professionals to discover the next great Latino artist.
They're also adding original and innovative content for its digital platform. In Summer 2011, the network will introduce two new characters: first up is 'Rico', an unorthodox foodie and Latin grill master by trade, and then there's 'Spooky', a mischievous and giant opinionated and clever hamster of Mexican-decent.
Both characters will make their digital debut on www.Tr3s.com in July and August, respectively.
First: The music ...TR3S and Onstage.com will fuse their music expertise and join forces to create the rebranded "Tr3s Latin Music Channel" featuring original music made by the Latino artists within their 175,000+ artist community. The monthly "El Headliner" (The Headliner) will award one artist from within the Top 20 fan-ranked music channel unparalleled exposure across the network's on-air and digital platforms. "Tr3s Latin Music Channel" is available on ourstage.tr3s.com.
Every month, Tr3s' judging panel will select the best new music from a fan-ranking on the "Tr3s Latin Music Channel". The winner will get an artist feature on the network's entertainment show "Lo Que Te Pica"; Artists will be featured on "Music My G??ey" and "Free Latin Music"; and will earn a featured story on Blogamole.
The partnership will look to develop online integrations that create fan bases for new artists, combining music discovery and the Hispanic audience that lives on Tr3s. Additionally, OurStage.com will serve as a valuable music source for Tr3s's content properties including the new daily scripted series "Popland", which is scheduled to premier in October. Music by OurStage artists OH MY!, City City, Matt Dahan, FunkAttack, National Airlines and Bojibian appeared in the first season of the network's hit series "Ni??as Mal".
Next, the two new online TR3S characters:

Five gunshots couldn't stop him. He's a wheel-chair bound survivor who loves life and all that it has to offer including food. His familia is his first priority and grillin' is what brings them together. Meet Rico Chips. A Mexican-American chef like no other, who whips up 'sabroso' (tasty) family recipes by adding a pinch of passion, and an ounce of street knowledge to create his own style of grillin'. "EL SPOOKY SHOW"
The giant Mexican hamster "Spooky" first made his debut during MTV International's global 2010 World Cup campaign. Generating a wave of spontaneous online activity across the globe, 'Spooky' is now taking center stage with his own reality series. Cameras will pop in on 'Spooky' and life with roommate and owner 'Jogu', for an entertaining look at his pranks, domestic duties, and everything in between. "El Spooky Show" will consist of 12 episodes set to air exclusively online in August, with one new webisode debuting each week. The show's character and storyline was created by La Comu Summer, the experiential division of global independent advertising agency La Comunidad.
